Mondays:
-August 11th will be 9pm-11pm
-August 18th will be 8-10pm
-August 25th will be 8:30-10:30pm
Solo filming will take place AFTER the 120-minute class time

Welcome to Showgirl Summer School: a summer dance intensive for dancers ready to tap into the glam, grit, and history of the showgirl legacy. Led by Halie Scaletta, director of The Lolas, this 3-week course is designed for dancers with at least an intermediate jazz foundation who are eager to level up their performance skills, deepen their understanding of showgirl technique, and celebrate the intersection of art, athleticism, and sensuality.
Each 2-hour session includes:
A full warmup rooted in showgirl-specific alignment and mobility
Targeted conditioning with a breakdown of the why and how behind building the strength and endurance for cleaner tuns, higher kicks, and stronger stability.
Choreography that fuses theater jazz, classic showgirl stylings, and contemporary flair. Expect individualized feedback enthusiastic encouragement! Dancers can opt-into the weekly filming option after each class for professional footage they can keep.
Mini-lectures & discussions on showgirl history, dance lineage, and the ongoing cultural connection between cabaret, burlesque, and sex work.
This intensive is a space for intermediate to professional-level dancers to dive deeper into this rich, nuanced, and often misunderstood genre while sweating, learning, and performing with purpose.

Recommended footwear:
The Lolas’ favourite shoe is a 3.75” flared heel ballroom shoe. BY FAR our favourite brand is Vivaz (out of Australia, available online). They’re unbelievably supportive and comfortable, and excellent customer service. We recommend the Kira or Paris styles!
Filming of this class, and subsequently its participants, may take place at any point for archival and promotional purposes on behalf of The Lolas.
